The Essence of Freedom
Freedom Church of Seattle, a multicultural, community-based, non-denominational church was organized on June 7, 1997, to promote the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We are a “streets to the suites” ministry with a strong commitment to Christ and Community. As an urban congregation, we aim to affect positive changes in the community by modeling our lives after His example. No one is beyond the reach of unconditional love and the forgiveness of God.
Our mission: To show every person the love of Jesus.
Our Vision: To build an international church open 24 hours a day, seven days a week that God is pleased with.
In 1990 , God gave Rev. Zachary K. Bruce, Sr. a vision: That he is going to shepherd a congregation in Seattle; but as God does, He gave the name for the church: "Freedom." The word signifies two things: (1) that everyone has the opportunity to experience spiritual freedom in Christ ( John 8:36); and (2) that the church operates from a God mandate to do social justice work so that people might be free.
On June 7, 1997, God officially gave birth to Freedom Church of Seattle to promote the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Thirty-one believers attended the initial prayer and organizational meeting at the Thompson's Point of View restaurant where Reverend Bruce presented a three year strategic plan for the new church. Since that initial meeting, Freedom has experienced substantial growth spiritually as well as in membership.
On September 28, 2008 we were blessed with the current facility. In the words of Rev. Ellis Casson of First AME Church in Seattle; "They turned a grocery store into a cathedral of freedom, hope and deliverance."
Freedom Church has a strong commitment to Christ and community. Our members come from all walks of life - from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. The foundation of Freedom is unconditional love and unconditional forgiveness. Love is spoken here and that is carried out in all aspects of our ministries and our work.
A Christ-Centered Church
We will work daily with this value in mind.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.
A Love-Centered Church
We will work and serve in the spirit of Christian Love.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
A Holy-Spirit Led Church
We will submit to and seek the Holy Spirit's direction in our work for the Lord.
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
A Praying & Fasting Church
We will seek God's perfect will in all we do.
Ezra 8:23 So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was entreated of us.
Christian Transformation in the heart, home, church, & community
We will seek spiritual excellence in our hearts, home, church, and community.
Developing Christian leaders and church partners to do God's will.
We will work as one!
